About This Item

New York, N.Y.: Aladdin/Simon & Shuster, 2001. Soft cover. Fine. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Leslie Baker. First Aladdin Paperback Edition, June, 2001. Number line 1-10. An imprint of Simon & Schuster. The publisher on the back cover is Wind in the Pines who has placed their stickers on the back cover. Synopsis: Rabbit is captivated by the moon and wants to ride the moon. He asks various birds to fly him there; however, all refuse except the crane. The crane remembers his own difficulty in learning to fly. They arrive at the moon and rabbit gets his wish. The crane's legs are lengthened because they were stretched by having the rabbit dangle from them as he flew. The story is a version of "How an animal got its ________." The animal illustrations and the night sky coupled with the figurative language create an appealing tale.
