About This Item

Rare hardback copyright 1968; first edition; from the abstract: "The ecological environment of a river system was simulated with the aid of a specially adapted research flume. The characteristics of the spacial and temporal variation of the oxygen concentration in the flume water were determined. The reaeration rate constants, the biological oxidation rate constant, and photosynthesis and respiration rate of benthal algae were measured. In the determination of reaeration rate constants, the oxygen concentration of the influent was maintained at a constant level by the use of sodium sulfite. Cane sugar was used as a pollutant. The effects of benthal algae on gthe system were determined under stagnant flow conditions."; structurally near fine withdrawal from college library with usual stamps and stickers; text block tight and square; green cloth boards clean and glossy with two gently bumped corners; 61 spotless pages, printed on one side only, with copious charts, diagrams, and illustrations WBC-1.
