About This Item
Spain: Osprey Aviation/Delprado, 2000. New book, 64 pages, 56 photos, 25 color aircraft profiles, 6 color uniform illustrations. The Hawker Hurricane was the RAF's first monoplane fighter. Hurricanes outnumbered Spitfires during the Battle of Britain by three to one, and downed more aircraft. From July to October 1940 Fighter Command squadrons claimed 2,475 kills of which 1,393 were downed by Hurricanes. However the Spitfire's higher performance and smaller silhouette meant that it was more than twice as likely to survive contact with the enemy.. Soft Cover. As New. Illus. by Rolfe, Mark; Fretwell, Keith. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
