"Story of the first use of railroads on a major scale in a major war ... the first complete map of all the Confederate railroads has been drawn for this book." Inscribed by the author on the front endpaper in 1954. In Tall Cotton 10: "Major contribution to Confederate economic history. The collapse of the Confederate railroad service was of immense importance in hastening the breakdown of the Confederacy." Recipient's ink note about the author under the inscription, else very good. Original rust cloth, decorated green dust jacket (Spine faded, front panel partly faded, a little edgewear). (9396).
