Illustrator's presentation copy of Untermeyer's anthology of poetry for children, warmly inscribed by Birch, with an elaborate original watercolor drawing of a young boy receiving this book from a kindly Mother Goose and a testy actual goose. 9'' x 6.75''. Original bright blue cloth, stamped in silver. Red topstain. Lacking dust jacket. Pictorial endpapers and illustrations by Birch. 498 pages. Housed in custom blue cloth clamshell box. Original watercolor by Birch on half title, with his inscription: "To Dickie the 'middler' with 'big heap' love / Christmas 1935 Reginald Birch." Light scuffing to boards, topstain slightly faded.
