About This Item
LOC #63-8969. Slight tear (cut) on the dust cover. Inscription on the inside, in pen, dated 1963. One of my favorite Salinger books, it tells the story of the Glass family, one of Salinger's famous inventions. that seemed so much like a real family, that I actually wrote a letter to the author .....and received a reply!

About The Periscope Collection
The Periscope Collection is an online store physically located in Nashville, TN. The Collection has grown out of my love of all things book-related, and after 30+ years of home schooling. We specialize in old and rare children's books, especially authors such as Tasha Tudor, Robert Lawson, and Marguerite de Angeli. We also focus on early American history, with a particular interest in the Landmark Biographies, the "Book House" series and "The Book of Life." One of our greatest passions is children's historical fiction, from authors like Wilma Pitchford Hays and William O. Steele (a native Tennessean!) and Lois Lenski, from my home state of Connecticut. And for those of you who have a heart for homeschooling, we have collected many books that Charlotte Mason would have called "Living Books": books that reflect the personality of the writer and, unlike a textbook, are not full of what she referred to as "twaddle". Along with Living Books, we also have a selection of Homeschooling helps, from some of homeschooling's wisest veterans. Come browse our Collection and see what you can discover!
