New York: Harper & Brothers. Good. 1871. First American Edition. Hardcover. First American edition of this novel by British author Anthony Trollope. Printed in double columns; several b&w illustrations throughout. Anthony Trollope (1815-1882) was an English novelist who authored 47 novels as well as short stories and travel books; he is best known for "Barchester Towers." "Ralph the Heir" was written in his later life and first released as a 3 volume set; it was soon after published in one volume. This copy is the first American edition and is illustrated. Original brown cloth covers with gilt spine lettering. There are two stickers inside on the front paste down, both from the Masonic Pleadies Lodge No. 478, A.F. & A. M. (Chicago), one is a lodge sticker and the other has Lodge Library Rules (the Lodge is still in existence). There is also a Lodge circular blind stamp on the front end paper. There is some wear to the covers, and to the extremities. The contents are generally clean and bright. ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 281 pages .
