About This Item

London: Printed for the Shakespeare Society, 1847. Hardcover. Good. First edition thus. Tall octavo. lxviii, [4], 160pp., with one facsimile plate facing the letterpress title page of The Tragedie of Gorboduc. In the original publisher's cloth, both covers have the same design stamped in blind, gilt spine. Near contemporary owner's name in ink on front free endpaper and small armorial blind stamp on title page. Cloth boards are sunned, chipping to the head and tail of spine, modest toning to the endpapers, the facsimile plate is toned, a good or better copy likely lacking the first facsimile plate.
