About This Item
New York: Minton, Balch & Company, 1929. Hardcover. 8vo. Black cloth with paper spine label and pictorial paper cover label. 278pp. Frontispiece, 7 plates. Very good. Bookplate on front pastedown notes this volume came from the estate of Frank O. Lowden (1861-1943), Illinois governor; Lowden has pencilled an acquisition number ("235") on half-title page and acquisition date ("4/31") on rear pastedown. A lovely, tight first edition with an interesting association. Randolph (1773-1833) was an influential politico and long-time U.S. representative and senator from Virginia.
