About This Item

1. LIEBESTRAUM (Dream of Love)

Calumet Music 1935

Composer: Franz Liszt, Lyrics by Jerry Castillo

Special Hawaiian Chorus by Bob Kaai, Ukelele by Jim Smock

Featuring Harry Kogen

There are several of Calumet Music's 1935 printing of Liebestraum available; this is the only one I can find with Harry Kogen on the cover.

Harry Kogen (1895-1985) was the conductor for the Chicago orchestras of both NBC and ABC from 1928-1948. In the 30s and 40s, his orchestra played for The American Farm & Home Hour, the Sinclair Minstrels, the Club Matinee and The Breakfast Club. He also composed more than 200 songs.

Condition is OK. There is a lot of wear at the edges and the original owner stuck an address label on the front, but that can be steamed off. It's still perfect for framing. And perfectly usable.

2. TO A WILD ROSE (Rare)

by Edward MacDowell, published in 1947 by Waterloo Music.

Edward Alexander MacDowell (December 18, 1860 - January 23, 1908) was an American composer and pianist of the Romantic period. He was best known for his second piano concerto and his piano suites Woodland Sketches, Sea Pieces, and New England Idylls. To a Wild Rose was his most popular piece, but no one seems to know when he composed it.

2 pages of music, plus cover, 9 3/4" x 12 1/4"

3. THE SINGING FOUNTAIN (Rare)

Edna Mae Burnam (1907-2007) is one of the most respected names in piano pedagogy. She sold her first composition in 1935: "The Clock That Stopped", beginning her long association with Willis Music. In 1950, Burnam devised an innovative piano series comprised of short warm-up exercises; her hand-drawn, for-position-only stick figures indicated where "real" illustrations should be dropped in. It became the Dozen a Day series, which has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide; the stick-figure drawings are now icons. She also composed hundreds of individual songs and pieces.

5 pages of music, plus covers, 9 1/4" x 12 1/4" It has been used and a player has made a couple of notations on the music, in red pencil. There are also two tears running through the pages. If you want to use the music, they can be taped; if you want to frame it, the framer can easily hide them.

Note: I have lots of vintage sheet music listed here, some singly, many in bundles. You're welcome to create your own bundle, or just buy one piece from a grouping.
