About This Item
Chicago: Rand McNally, 1953. First edition. Cloth. Very Good/No dust jacket. 8vo. 304pp. illus. b&w photos. Cloth. First Edition. Maps on the endpapers. Travel Narrative to the Island of Raroia. Raroia and Takume are coral atolls, two of the seventy-eight islands in the Tuamotu Archipelago. They lie 465 miles from Tahiti and 1100 miles south of the equator; 4000 miles from San Francisco and 4250 from Sydney, Australia.
Danielsson was one of the six crew members on that original Kon-Tiki voyage that ended up on the shores of Raroia, a small coral atoll in the remote Tuamotu Islands in the South Pacific. This book details Danielsson's return to Raroia, with his wife, for an eighteen-month sojourn in the idyllic and carefree paradise. Former owner's signature at top of front flyleaf.
