Story of the American Indians from mysterious origins and the many conflicting theories in regard to them, and goes on to explore what our culture owes to the Indians, and discusses some erroneous ideas held about Indians. There are chapters that take up the matter of atrocities and massacres and stories of Indian cannibalism. Further chapters deal with: Organization and Home Life; Religions and Beliefs; Life When the White Men Came; Weapons, Moccasins, Head-dresses. The latter part of the book describes the various tribes on the basis of geographical distribution, beginning in New England and ending on the West Coast. Much more.
