About This Item
The Real War by Richard Nixon - Signed Deluxe Edition. Fine. Comes in Slipcase. This is a signed limited edition of The Real War (1980) by President Richard Nixon. It is in fine condition, with only a few slight markings on the slipcase. Comes complete with a letter from the publisher authenticating the signature.
Just six years after he left office, Richard Nixon began his surprising ascent into the status of elder statesman with the publishing of The Real War. In it, he describes his views regarding what he considered the biggest threat to America at the time - the Soviet Union.
It's an interesting, in-depth analysis of foreign policy and geopolitical realities, but also includes the sometimes strange Nixonesque style that America has come to know. He even finds a way, in the first few pages, to blame the 1960s counterculture for some of America's problems of the day. Nevertheless, The Real War addressed issues that would be center-stage during the Reagan years and surely influenced Soviet-facing policy over the next decade.
A best-seller in its day, The Real War was the first book published by Nixon after his memoirs, and served as the stepping stone for his impressive writing career over the next ten years. This signed deluxe edition would make a perfect addition to a Presidential collector's library.
