Pages 143-150 blank. A new edition of 'The Queen of Hearts' Recipe Book, now re-titled, revised, and expanded with nearly one hundred new recipes. In the preface, the authoress invokes Ruskin, stating that "anyone who is interested in household economics can develop what Ruskin describes as 'carefulness, inventiveness, watchfulness, willingness, and readiness of appliance.'" (page vii). In publisher's purple cloth, with white paper labels to spine and front board; upper front corners of boards bumped. Originally issued in a double jacket, one of glassine and the second printed, but here lacking both. Otherwise, near fine. With an ink inscription stating provenance, "This cook book was a gift from Marcia Steese of the Diet Ctr. It was written by her husband's grandmother. Sept. 1987."
