The biography of this historian and scholar who ranks amongst such luminaries as Carter G. Woodson ("The Father of Black History"), Charles H. Wesley, John Hope Franklin and others. Work was born to formerly-enslaved parents. He was one of the initial members of W.E.B. Du Bois's Niagara Movement before joining Booker T. Washington and settling in at at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama.
