Recreations Mathematiques et Physiques, 2 volumes, Paris: Jombert, 1750 and 1754.Octavos, new edition, pp. [xiv], 460, 20 (Table des Problemes), 32 plates; [ii], 462, 14, 55 plates, some fold-outs, full contemporary calf with gilt stamped lettering and decoration on spines, six compartments inside raised bands, all edges tinted red, former owner's ID inked onto preliminary blanks. All text in French. Presents math and science problems to challenge and amuse the reader, first published in the late 17th century in four volumes. I don't know whether the present set is complete at 2 volumes. See DSB X, 264.Condition of these books:Boards heavily worn, joints cracked.Leaves clean and tight, no foxing, plates fine. Size: Octavo (standard book size). 2-volume set (complete). Text is in French. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting.
