Synopsis
Morgan Llywelyn provides a colorful and vivid retelling of the story of Cuchulain, a hero of the Ulster Cycle of heroic Irish tales in the novel Red Branch. We meet the child Setanta, the fosterling of King Conor and child of the god Lugh. He earned his name by defeating a hound that attacked him at the home of Culann, and then offered himself to replace the dog - hence Cuchulain, The Hound of Culann. His ultimate destiny is a mystical journey through battles and emotional struggles, guided by gods and goddesses, afflicted by curses and blessings, and ever shrouded in sorrow and passion.
