Edgar Snow was the most influential foreign writer on China in the 20th century, enjoying privileged access to top Communist Party leaders and helping pave the way for Nixon's historic 1972 state visit. Snow died one week before the President touched down in Beijing. Octavo. Original orange limp cloth, spine and front cover lettered in black. With 16 half-tone plates; map in text. Contemporary pencil ownership signature ("Butler") on front free endpaper. Spine cocked and creased, covers bright, edges toned. A very good copy.
