(States "First published in 1915" on copyright page; follows the American edition of Huebsch in English.) x, 299, [3, ads] pp. Bound in publisher's brown cloth with black lettering. A Good copy with a tear at the head, wear at extremities, front and rear hinges cracked but holding. American diplomat Felix Cole's copy with his bookplate on paste down, his name written on title page, Riga (Latvia) 1934.
A major work of 20th century revolutionary political philosophy by syndicalist Georges Sorel, originally published in his native tongue French in 1908. Despite being a Leftist work, many scholars have called it an important progenitor of fascist ideology. Its scope is unusually broad, including mythology and sociology.
