About This Item
Concord, Massachusetts: Concord Seven Doors Press, 2008. Reform of Christianity: The Emerging Church by Norman Beecher Stated First Edition 8vo size hardcover with dust jacket; 100 pages. Interesting brief author biography on rear inside jacket flap. Harriet Beecher Stow and the Reverends Henry Ward Beecher and Lyman Beecher are among his ancestors. From back: In the 21st century, the religion with the most adherents throughout the world bases its doctrine principally upon a creed written int he 4th century. In the approximately 1700 years since he Nicene Creed was written, scientific knowledge has increased a thousand-fold. Scholars and theologians have studied the ancient records, especially the Bible, and have reached conclusions never imagined in the 4th century. Yet there has been little change in doctrine over these centuries. In the 21st century we know many things about he christian religion that were not known in the 4th century... Unfortunately the position of many churches is that their doctrine is and will always be infallibly correct. It is instructive to consider the great range of doctrine that we have int eh different churches in the nation. They cannot all be infallibly correct... We note only two post-publication corrections: the ISBN on the rights page is on a small sticker (the printed one must have been incorrect) and on the back cover in the word "1700" the 7 is written over wite-out. Quotes are for illustrative purposes only and remain the property of their copyright holders. Thanks for shopping with us! 100% of your purchase benefits charity and supports literacy and lifelong learning.. First. Hard Cover. Excellent/As New. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
