[Trevecka]: [The Old Family], 1780. 1st Edition 2nd Printing. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. AS RARE AS HEN'S TEETH! First Edition Second Issue 1780 A book of notorious rarity & a most interesting text. VG+, in contemporary worn half calf over green marbled boards, corners & edges bumped & worn. Spine, gilt tooling & titles, worn at edges. Internally, [2], (iii-viii), [1], 2-134 pp, [2] contents list, green marbled endpapers, bookplate to fpd (C.K. Kemeys Tynte), no imprint. According to Lowndes p1036 Jones published A Relation to Ghosts and Apparitions, which commonly appear in the Principality of Wales. in Bristol in 1767 and an article appeared in the Retrospective Review, xi, 66-88. The first edition appeared in the same years as this and there was another edition, a facsimile of the 1st, published in 1813. This issue was probably issued without the knowledge or authority of the author, and done so that Wales appeared less superstitious? Title continues: together with Observations about them, and Instructions from them: Designed to Confute and to Prevent the Infidelity of Denying the being and Apparition of Spirits; which tends to Irreligion and Atheism,
