Contemporary owners name written on front free endpaper. Dust jacket shows some sun fading to spine, along with being slightly cocked. Jacket shows some sign of bumping to corners, as well as minor shelf wear to top and tail of spine.

The novel centres around Stevens, a butler at Darlington Hall, as estate in Oxford, England. It begins in 1956, with Stevens heading on a road trip to reconnect with an old friend and former colleague. Following the death of Lord Darlington, Steven reflects on his loyalty to his former employer and the ways in which youth is spent, as well as the balance between acknowledging the past, appreciating the present and looking toward the future. The Remains of the Day was adapted for film in 1993, and starred Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson, and was nominated for 8 Academy Awards. The novel was also the Booker Prize Winner for Fiction in 1989.

Kazuo Ishiguro (1954 - ) is a British author, novelist, screenwriter and musician. Ishiguro is one of the most acclaimed authors of his time, who's combined Japanese and English heritage and upbringing, creates a distinct point of view. Ishiguro is the winner of many literary awards, including the Nobel Prize in literature, and has been recognized by both British and Japanese governments, as an esteemed personality.

The Remains of the Day is the third published novel by Japanese-British author Kazuo Ishiguro. The Remains of The Day is one of the most highly-regarded post-war British novels. It won the Booker Prize in 1989 for Best Fiction, and was later adapted into an Academy-Award nominated film, starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson. The novel ranks in the Sunday Times list of 100 greatest novels.
