About This Item

New York: Random House, 1951. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. First edition. Dampstain on the upper corner fo the frist few leaves, very good in very good age-toned dustwrapper with a corresponding stain. Inscribed by the authors, apparently to cast member Joseph Latham, who played Fred Fleming in the play: "To Joe, You helped with a successful undertaking. Howard [and] Russel." Additionally, the book is Signed by virtually all the members of the cast (with the exceptional of Latham, which makes us think it was his copy, and two bit part players), as well as several members of the stage crew including electricians, carpenter, prop man, and a few who are identified. Probably the best known of those signing are Jackie Cooper, Ossie Davis, Janis Paige, and Howard Lindsay (signed a second time). Also this comedy was the basis for the 1953 Don Weis-directed film featuring June Allyson and Van Johnson, and with performances by Angela Lansbury and Dorothy Dandridge.
