Octavo, original full red paneled morocco gilt, elaborately gilt-decorated spine and covers with the arms of King George I as centerpieces on both covers, silver clasps and catches engraved with thistles, raised bands, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt; pp. 154. Housed in a custom full morocco clamshell box. $8500.Fine 18-century manuscript, ruled in red, providing the rules for the House of Lords, beautifully bound in full red paneled morocco featuring the gilt arms of King George I as centerpieces on the covers and silver catches and clasps. This finely penned manuscript provides an early iteration of the Parliamentary protocol, Standing Orders of the House of Lords relating to Public Business, most likely penned for the use of a peer during Parliamentary sessions. The majority of the ""remembrances"" are Orders extracted from the Journals of the House of Lords and arranged chronologically. Bookplate; 19th-century inscription and later ink signature on flyleaf; blindstamp of Peter Bander van Duren (1930-2004), British writer on heraldry and orders of knighthood on rear leaf.Near-fine condition, a beautifully bound manuscript with distinguished provenance.
