Good. 1965 limited edition reprint (1200 copies), Anderson, Ritchie and Simon (Los Angeles, California), 5 3/4 x 8 3/4 inches tall beige and brown cloth hardbound, no dust jacket, gilt lettering to spine, yellow endpapers, yellow accents to new Gene Holtan illustrations, [12], 120 pp. Very slight staining, rubbing and edgewear to covers. Number in red pencil to upper margin of blank front free-endpaper. Otherwise, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked - of this uncommon reissue. ~SP06~ [1.5P] Volume 1, containing the first eight chapters (of 37) of Major Bell's memoirs, Reminiscences of a Ranger, with a newly-added introduction and illustrations. Horace Bell (1830-1918) was active in the American era of 19th century California, especially in the Los Angeles region. He was a Los Angeles Ranger, filibuster, soldier, lawyer, journalist and newspaper publisher, and author of two Southern California history books.
