About This Item
San Antonio, TX: St. Mary's Church, 1899. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 227 pp + v (index), 6 (advertisements), with frontispiece. Black fabricoid over boards with black cloth spine. No lettering on cover or spine. Light fraying to cloth at head and tail of spine, very mild spine slant, chippingto first two leaves near spine, otherwise sound and clean. Parisot arrived in Texas with other French missionaries in 1852. This book is something of a pastiche - in addition to his reminiscences of his experience in Mexico, Louisiana, and Texas, 1852-1867, there is some basic history of these areas. The latter part of the books is focused on Europe. His recounting of his American experience includes much interesting detail. Howes P67; Graff 3182.
