Octavo, xvi (last blank), 290 pages with wood-engraved illustrations by E.C. Mountfort plus a title-vignette and a frontispiece portrait of the author. Gilt-decorated cloth flecked (chiefly to the rear cover); paper lightly tanned; endpapers and initial leaves slightly foxed; a very good copy. With the pictorial bookplate ['Gang forward'] (slightly marked) of Edward Charles Stirling on the front pastedown.
