III). Monthly reports from the Central Art Collecting Point, Munich, 4 June 1945 up to the beginning of October, when the first shipment of art left for the Netherlands. With the surrender of Germany, Craig Hugh Smyth (1915-2006) was named director of the U.S. army's Central Art Collecting Point in Munich and placed in charge of cultural relics. He assisted in converting the former NSDP (Nazi) party headquarters into what is now the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte, receiving a U.S. Army Commendation medal for his service. 61 illustrations. 126 pag.. 1st edition.
