1890. WARREN, B.H. Report on the Birds of Pennsylvania. Harrisburg, 1890. 2nd ed., revised. With 100 plates in full color. Newly rebound in cloth.

Harrisburg: Edwin K. Meyers, 1888. First edition.. Light edgewear to cloth at the head and foot of the spine, overall, a very good copy.. Pp. xii, 260; 50 fine lithograph plates (49 in color) after the work of Audubon. Publisher’s original dark green cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine, lg 8vo. Zimmer (p. 663) states: “An account of the birds of the state, with brief descriptions (from Baird, Coues and Ridgway) and with notes on the habits and economic importance of each. This work was issued in an edition of 6000 copies which was exhausted almost at once, and a revised and enlarged edition was therefore prepared and issued in 1890 under the same short title.” This 1888 edition is the first edition. On the front endpapers there are two old signatures. There is also the name stamp of the Ron Sauey Memorial Library on rear endpaper. Ron Sauey was co-founder of the International Crane Foundation, Baraboo, Wisconsin. There is also a plain paper pocket on the rear endpaper.

Harrisburg: E. K. Meyers, 1890. Second Edition. Half Calf. Very Good. 8vo. xiv, 434 pp. With 100 plates, all but one with color. This second edition is much enlarged and has twice as many plates as the first. Plates based on Audobon. Contemporary calf is heavily worn and very dry, with rubbing and cracks abounding. Redeeming this copy are the clean plates. One text leaf with small marginal crease and tiny closed tear. Otherwise text age toned but clean as well.

Roy. 8vo. Pp. xiv + 434. Second Edition, revised and augmented. Half calf, marbled boards gilt title on red leather, gilt bands on spine. Prelims. slightly discoloured and and page edges sunned, otherwise a very nice tight copy with one black & white plate and 99 fine chromolithographic plates after Audubon.

Published by E.K. Cole Ltd., 1890. 1st edition.. Hardback. Very Good. Very good condition with no wrapper. With Special Reference to the Food-Habits, based on over Four Thousand Stomach Examinations. Second Edition, revised and augmented. Illustrated with 100 colour plates in the style of Audubon. Modern cloth binding with red title to spine. Spine slightly faded, a few small marks to covers. New endpapers. Re-sewn, binding tight. Pencil underlining to title page else contents clean. All plates present.
