Original 1843 edition and printing, 784pp, foldout map opposite the title page, list of errata opposite page 1, 47 plates bound at back of book; book was expertly rebacked retaining the original cloth-covered boards and the original cloth spine which is now afixed to new purple cloth that covers the spine plus an inch of both covers. CONDITION: Original cloth cover was apparently purple now mostly faded to light brown, worn through at tips of corners; very old bookplate inside the front cover indicating prior library ownership (no other library indications); binding is sound, tight and square; no marks or writing, clean, occasional light foxing except heavier on some plates otherwise plates are in very nice condition--plates and map have no rips or marks, show little if any use.
