London: John Murray, 1824. First edition. Hardcover. Good condition. Scarce work on Ireland, with frontispiece and all 16 full page lithographic views called for. These include the Round Tower at Cloyne, County Cork; the Cascade at Powerscourt; Limerick; Killaloe; Carrigogunnel Castle; North Gate at Kilmallock; Kilmallock; Kilcolman; Buttevant Abbey; Ollistrum's March; Lismore; Casle Town Roche; Mallow; Ardmore; Druidical Altar Castle Mary; and Carrinacurra Castle.
The author (1798 - 1854) was an Irish antiquary who collected Irish poetry and folklore, and helped found the Percy Society and the Camden Society.
Uncut 4to, [8] pp, 393pp, frontispiece and 16 plates. Ex library copy, with 2 library stamps, one at the title page (partially whited out) and at p25. An uncut copy in the original plain boards, later buckram spine with paper title piece. Boards rubbed at edges & corners; some fox spotting on frontispiece, but not present in the other lovely lithographic views.
