Green linen boards w/gilt embossed lettering/NF, showing trace discoloration to lower edges & rub to lower right corner. DJ/VG w/taped repairs to upper edges. An intimate and personal tour of the gentler slopes of the Alps by Austrian-born writer, translator and editor Max Knight (1909 - 1993) who knew the region in youth, and led the first Sierra Club trip to the Alps in 1966. His son, Anthony, was a section leader for Alps trip and did research for this volume. Superlative color photographs from German conservationist and nature photographer Gerhard Klammet (1914 - ) capture a wonderous world.
