The result is a singularly interesting document, with the gran- deur and the squalor of the East and the tragedy of Western prestige. The documentary voyage from the top tip of Suma- tra through Negri Sembilan, Johore, Singapore, Palembang, Batavia, Djokjakarto, to Macassar and return. Excellent primary resource done just before the start of World War II, the last of its kind, the end of an era. .
