New York: George H. Doran Company, 1927. xvi, [4], 335pp, [1]. Pictorial endpapers after Kennington; with 16 plates and a folding map. Original publisher's brown cloth, stamped and lettered in black, pictorial dustwrapper (camel variant). Light shelf-wear, dustwrapper heavily worn and marked, substantial loss to head of spine panel, inked numerals to upper wrapper, tape repairs to verso. Internally clean and crisp. The first American trade edition of T. E. Lawrence's abridgement of his Seven Pillars of Wisdom. Although the copyright page states 'First printing in America, March, 1927', this is the second impression, as it lacks the George H. Doran 'lozenge' on the verso of the title page. . First American trade edition, second issue. 8vo.
Synopsis
The abrdiged version of Seven Pillars of Wisdom, which is the autobiographical account of the experiences of British soldier T. E. Lawrence ("Lawrence of Arabia"), while serving as a liaison officer with rebel forces during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Turks of 1916 to 1918.
