London: Jonathan Cape, 1927. Book. About Fine.. Leather and Buckram. 1st Limited Edition. Large Octavo. One Quarter dark brown pigskin over light brown buckram. Limited edition of 315 copies only of which this is #123. This is the abridged version of Lawrence's Seven Pillars of Wisdom which he did in order to pay the bills. Much tighter limitation than the limiteds of Seven Pillars done in 1935, it is rare thus. Other limiteds of Seven Pillars are either impossible to find or impossibly priced. Lacks the dust wrapper. Evidence of label removal from the ffep and half title but is otherwise fine but for slight edgewear..
Synopsis
The abrdiged version of Seven Pillars of Wisdom, which is the autobiographical account of the experiences of British soldier T. E. Lawrence ("Lawrence of Arabia"), while serving as a liaison officer with rebel forces during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Turks of 1916 to 1918.

Subtitle reads 'Devided into Provinces; with its sub-divisions of Counties. Baronies. &cc. Shewing their Boundaries, Extent, Soil, Produce, Contents, Measure, Members of Parliament, and Number of Inhabitants; also the Cities, Boroughs, Billages, Mountains, Bogs, Lakes, Rivers and Natural Curiosities Together with the Great and Bye Post Roads. The whole taken from actual Surveys and Observations By Bernard Scale, Land Surveyor and beautifully engraved on 78 Copper Plates by Messrs. Ellis and Palmer'. Brown leather with marble paper to boards. Maps in colour. Rubbing and a little scuffing to boards and wear to leather at extremities, a little darkening to paper to boards towards spine, some tanning to end papers at corners and near gutter, a little foxing to interior, very faint offset to adjacent pages from maps.
