NY: Scribner's, 1898. Reprint. (this was originally issued in 1875). 8vo, pp. xii, 255. Illustrated throughout by various artists. Bound in brown cloth stamped in black and gilt. Little rubbing but a near fine copy. Inscribed by the author: "Little soils oft ferment | Big souls are content Page 89 | Mary Mapes Dodge." Dodge is here quoting two lines from the poem "Little Pot Soon Hot." Numeral tag on the front pastedown. Dodge died in 1905. She is best remembered as the editor of St. Nicholas Magazine and the author of Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates.
