Pages clean throughout. 272 pages with Index. A cultural and culinary tour of Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, North Africa, Israel, Syria, Lebanon, and other lands bordering on the Mediterranean. In each area, the author writes of the varied customs, festivals, traditional foods, and eating habits. Line drawings by Dino Rigolo accompany the text. Not a cookbook per se, although several recipes are provided for each region written about in this Mediterranean food tour. As stated on the dust jacket: "This is a book for all who are interested in good eating, colorful traditions, and travel.".
