About This Item

This is a collection of Volumes I and II from "Rice's Encyclopedia of SILK MAGIC" by Harold Rice. Each volume comes with its original dust jacket. The volumes are loaded with illustrations by Francis B. Martineau. Published in 1948 and 1953 by Silk King Studios in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.

The contents are as follows:
VOLUME I: The Romantic Story of Silk; Dyeing Your Own Silks; Methods of Folding Silks; Methods of Producing a Single Silk; Non-apparatus Quantity Productions; Apparatus Quantity Productions; Vanishes; Changes; Transpositions.
VOLUME II: Penetrations; Color Changes; Color Changing Silks; Silk Dyeing; Reel Magic; Reel - Less Magic; Twentieth Century Silks.

Condition:
Volume 2 is in Fine condition and appears unread - clean both inside and out with no issues found. Volume I is in Near Fine condition and appears unread - clean both inside and out with only a bit of scuffing along the left edge of the spine. Both dust jackets have chips/small pieces missing along the perimeters; the Vol. 1 jacket has a larger piece missing near the center of the spine, and a 4" tear at the crease between the front cover and front flap. The vol I jacket also has tears along the spine and outer edges that have been repaired with clear tape on the back-side. Overall the jackets are in Good- condition. (Both dust jackets come with clear, protective sleeves - not shown.)
