Very Good+ hardcover with light soiling to the back board, light shelf wear to the front plate, and a small tear to the fore edge of the ffep and a corresponding bump to the next two leaves, in an acetate jacket. Clothbound with crisp black-stamped text to the spine and an original selenium-toned b&w silver gelatin print mounted to the front. BOOKS SHIP THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY, WRAPPED IN PADDING, IN A BOX. Nighttime desert landscapes, shot with a strobe, focusing on monolithic natural features such as cacti, palm trees, and boulders. The photographer's second book and the catalogue for an exhibition of work that brought him to national prominence. The spine text is the only text in the volume, as issued. Photographs by Richard Misrach. SIGNED BY MISRACH and numbered, 51/100, on the first page and additionally, signed and inscribed by Misrach on the ffep and dated April 12, 1979. We are presuming that that date was the opening of the exhibition of this work at the Grapestake Gallery, SF. Unpaginated [112 pages]; 54 duo-toned b&w plates, printed verso only; 10 x 12.5 inches.
