Part of The Virginai Regimental Histories Series. small previous owner's name on first page, dj shows slight discoloration to the white paper (dj now in mylar protector). "Before they were fully organized, Captain George Wythe Randolph's Howitzers were called out in November 1859, during the John Brown crisis, for their first stint of active service. In the following year, the Howitzers, designated as Company H in Richmond's 1st Regiment Virginia Volunteers, acquired regimental uniforms with artillery trim, and six Dahlgren naval boat howitzers. With Virginia's secession, applications for enrollment in the Howitzers increase, and in May 1861, the company was withdrawn from the 1st Regiment, and orgaized into a battalion of three companies under Major Randolph."; Limited Edition; 6 1/4 x 9 1/4 ''; Signed by Author.
