About This Item
Oxford: Clarendon Press, ca 1930. A pleasant pocket edition. Small 8vo, publisher's original red wrappers printed in black. 48 pp. A well preserved copy with some age mellowing. A CHARMING COPY OF THE OXFORD PLAIN TEXTS EDITION. Coleridge’s RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER was a signal shift to modern poetry and the beginning of British Romantic literature. Its dark and brooding themes were most likely inspired by James Cook's second voyage of exploration.
