About This Item
Selected for the young by Irene Slade, illustrated by Edward Ardizzone.
Inscribed by Wynne Tyson to his daughter Tilly, given his opinion on Betjeman and poetry more generally in October 1967. With a later humorous poem about Betjeman from April 1973. This exchange by father and daughter about John Betjeman is rather charming.
Enclosed in the book are a number of newspaper cuttings on Betjeman. The covers are grubby. The gap between the cover and the title page is cracking; the text block is clean, with light foxing along the page edges.
From the library of Jon Wynne-Tyson.
Wynne-Tyson was an English author, publisher, Quaker, activist and pacifist, who founded Centaur Press in 1954. He ran Centaur Press from his home in Sussex and was a distinguished independent publisher. He authored books on animal rights and vegetarianism.
