"The Rise of the Book-Plate" by W.G. Bowdoin. 1901 1st edition; A. Wessels Company; New York. The book is richly illustrated with examples of bookplates throughout. "Being and Exemplification of the Art, Signified by Various Book-Plates, from its Earliest to its Most Recent Practice." With an Introduction and chapter on the study and arrangement of book-plates by Henry Blackwell. Please see the photos for the complete list of contents.
Condition:
Clean covers and spine. Small cloth tears to three of the cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior - the pages are lightly age-toned and mostly clean with only a few random smudges found. There is an old bookplate affixed to the front end paper. Small foxing spot at the upper-outer corner of the frontispiece, title page, and the tissue guard in between. Overall the book is in Very Good condition.
