Publisher's green cloth with spine lettering and large upper board vignette gilt, 12mo (7 1/4 inches height x 4 1/4 inches width), pp. 179. Tissue guarded frontispiece and 4 other illustrations as called for. Previous owner 1908 Christmas signature on free front end-paper. Small old inventory number rubber-stamped near top edge of rear endpaper. Fore-edge and bottom-edge untrimmed. GOOD condition with shelf wear and rubs at spine ends and board tips. See WORK, Monroe, Bibliography of the Negro in Africa and America, Mansfield Centre, page 467.
