About This Item

Octopus Books, London, 1985. Reprint. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Very Good. Illustrator: Photographic. 320 pages, index of film titles, index of personnel, colour illustrated dustjacket, facsimile signature illustrated end pages, text illustrated with numerous monotone photographs arranged chronologically. This film studio existed in an atmosphere of almost continual chaos from its optimistic beginnings in 1928 until it collapsed into ruins at the hands of the megalomaniac Howard Hughes nearly 30 years later. In its comparatively short, and always turbulent history, it made some of the greatest films and noted some of the finest talents ever to emerge from Hollywood -- it was the studio that immortalised Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, unveiled the genius of Orson Wells and established King Kong and Tarzan in popular mythology. there is a gifting annotation on the half title page taking up a good 1/3rd of the page, and no other damage to describe. Third impression of the First Edition. Size: Folio ( 12"- 15" tall ). Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: Photographic. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 2-3 kilos. Category: Film, Radio & Television; ISBN: 0706412850. ISBN/EAN: 9780706412857. Inventory No: 0259440. . 9780706412857
