About This Item

NY: Knopf, 1985. 1st. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Hardcover, 242 pages. Approximately 260 black-and-white images have been selected by Robert Capa's brother and his biographer as his "strongest and most memorable'' photographs from a career of 30-some years. It is the war pictures and war-related pictures, where Capa confronts death, fear, devastation, and anguish, that stay with you. Capa was there; nothing is held back. These 160 photos start with the Spanish Civil War and end in Vietnam, where Capa was killed in 1954. One wishes for fuller captions where often there is only place and date. The peacetime photos mainly reflect an observer rather than a participant. Record # 360912
