(London, Routledge and Kegan Paul, 1969). Large octavo, original red cloth, a little marked or scuffed, boards very slightly bowed, pp. xi + 392, plates. Dustwrapper blurb cut away and pasted to the pastedown endpapers, owner's inscription on the front free endpaper, light foxing on the endpapers and edges. 'Robert owen and the Owenites were associated with the rise of an early industrial society in Britain and with the development of an agricultural, frontier society in the United States during the first half of the nineteenth century. This book, the first to use both British and American source mateial, tells the story of Robert Owen (1771-1858) and the movement connected with his name, from the standpoint of comparative social and intellectual history. .
