New York: McLoughlin Brothers, Publishers, 1882. "One Syllable" books were Popular throughout the 19th Century. Although usually directed at children, they were also used by immigrants to improve their English. This is a Very Good copy of the Firt Edition. Large format, with tan cloth binding blindstamped with decorations. Titling on the front in gilt; titling on the spine is blindstamped. Clean text; 93 pages; with numerous illustrations in both black and white and colour. Light wear; corners bumped; gilt a bit rubbed but perfectly legible. The first endpaper shows evidence of pencil erasure. A rather nice book altogether.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
