Paris: The Obelisk Press,, 1936. First edition, first impression, of the author's first book. Connolly's only novel, originally published by the extraordinary Obelisk Press, was later published in the same year in the US. The first UK edition did not appear until 1947. Octavo. Original grey wrappers with fold-over flaps, spine and front covers lettered in blue. Ownership signature in pencil to title page, including date and place ("Paris '37"). Foot of spine a little worn, minor tear to front joint, some foxing to edges and rear wrapper, newspaper clippings laid down, catalogue description laid down to title page; a very good copy. Pearson A-41.
