About This Item

The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form.

A little about our authors:
Stuart Kaminsky: Kaminsky wrote about 60 novels in the genres of mystery and horror, plus biographies, textbooks, short stories, and television scripts. Kaminsky died in 2009. Kaminsky wrote two original Rockford Files novels. This is his second one.

Robin Hathaway: Hathaway got into this vocation late in life, beginning her first novel at age 50. She has published eight novels and many short stories in the mystery genre. Her two series heros are Doctor Fenimore (5 books) and Jo Banks (3 books). This is the first Doctor Fenimore novel.

Marjorie Eccles: British writer Eccles has produced over 30 novels in the genres of mystery, historical mystery and romantic mystery. Likes those mysteries. She has published under her own name as well as two pen names. She has two mystery series, featuring Gil Mayo (13 books) and Herbert Reardon (4 books). Her most recent novel, in the Reardon series, was published in 2017. A Death of Distinction is the eighth Gil Mayo novel.
